Focus on the Plant Nutrition winners of the Innovation Awards Roullier 2020

Dr. Cécile MONARD and Dr. Abdelhak EL AMRANI are the winners in Plant Nutrition of the Innovation Awards Roullier 2020.

Dr. Cécile MONARD is a Research Fellow at the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) and Dr. Abdelhak EL AMRANI is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Rennes 1 in France. The originality of their project is based on a new approach to modulate the natural interactions between plant roots and soil microorganisms taking place within the rhizosphere *, in order to promote microbial populations beneficial to the health and nutrition of plants.

We look forward to following their progress in the course of 2021.

* Rhizosphere: Part of the soil penetrated by the roots of plants and associated micro-organisms. Nutrients are processed there for absorption by the plant.

Focus on the Animal Nutrition winners of the Innovation Awards Roullier 2020

Pr. Mateus P. GIONBELLI and Pr. Marcio DUARTE are the winners in Animal Nutrition of the Innovation Awards Roullier 2020.

Pr. Mateus GIONBELLI is Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Lavras and Pr. Marcio DUARTE is Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Viçosa in Brazil. Their project aims to optimize nutritional efficiency during the early stages of cattle development, through a better global understanding of the physiological and biochemical mechanisms involved, and by correlating zootechnical information and “omics” ** data from cutting-edge technologies in biology.

We look forward to following their progress in the course of 2021.

** Omics: set of technologies allowing a comprehensive understanding of complex and dynamic biological systems. "Omics" data are analyzed according to their domain: set of genes (genomics), RNA (transcriptomics), proteins (proteomics), metabolites (metabolomics).

After receiving more than 100 applications (65 Plant Nutrition projects and 36 Animal Nutrition projects) in answer of this international contest organized by the CMI Roullier, our two international juries rigorously reviewed them – first individually and then collectively – in order to choose the competition’s two winners.

Who is Groupe Roullier?

Since 1959, the Groupe Roullier‘s teams have been meeting the real needs of industry in the sector.
